Woodside Nine Hole Ladies Golf Association By-Laws

ARTICLE I: RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF THE MEMBERS
Any golf member in good standing shall be entitled to vote at all meetings of the Association and participate in all events of the Woodside Nine Hole Ladies Golf Association (WNHLGA).
ARTICLE II: ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Section 1 – Nominating Committee
A. The President shall appoint a nominating committee chairman and committee in July.
B. This committee shall prepare a ballot nominating one candidate for each office.
C. The committee shall post the slate of officers on the Niners bulletin board at least two weeks prior to the Fall general membership meeting.
Section 2 – Election
A. The election of officers will be held at the Fall meeting. Additional nominations may be made from the floor at that time, providing the nominees have previously agreed to accept the nomination. If nominations arise from the floor, voting will be done by secret ballot.
B. The President and Vice-President may serve for a period of up to two (2) consecutive years.
C. In the event that an officer is not able to fill her position for the year, the president shall appoint a replacement.
ARTICLE III: DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS
Section 1 – President
The president shall preside at all meetings of the Association. She shall appoint standing committee chairmen. She shall also appoint special committees that may become necessary during the year. She shall serve as an ex-officio member of all committees.
Section 2 – Vice President
A. The Vice-President shall preside in the absence of the president.
B. The Vice-President will assist event chairs in attending to the details of golf events and clinics and provide consistent communication with Woodside Country Club Pro Shop personnel.
Section 3 – Secretary
The Secretary or her designee shall maintain an accurate and permanent record of all meetings of the Association. She or her designee shall handle all the Association correspondence.
Section 4 – Treasurer
The Treasurer shall receive and safely keep all monies of the Association including tournaments and membership dues. She shall deposit these monies in the name of the Association in a bank and disburse as authorized by the Executive Committee or as voted upon by the Association members. She shall maintain an accurate record of all funds received and disbursed; and render a report when requested. She shall assist, along with the Treasurer–Elect, the President and President-Elect in preparing a budget for the new fiscal year. She shall submit a complete Treasurer’s report for audit at the end of the fiscal year.
ARTICLE IV: WOODSIDE PROFESSIONAL STAFF
The Handicap Coordinator, in collaboration with the Woodside Country Club Pro Shop personnel, will be responsible for information regarding the rules of golf, golf etiquette, and niners’ handicaps.
ARTICLE V: RULES OF PLAY
1. The Association shall play a specific nine hole course each Thursday or Saturday with, at least, one other Association Member.
- (Amended September 2023 to take effect for the 2024 season) If playing for league on a Saturday and the Pro Shop changes your course to the one not played on the preceding Thursday, you still get participation points but may not be considered for low gross/low net for that day.
2. The Association shall play according to the United States Golf Association (USGA) rules and local rules.
3. Score cards must be signed, dated, and attested before being presented to score keeper after each tournament or play day. Failure to comply will be cause for disqualification for all scores on that card.
4. A player must sign in at the Pro Shop to be eligible for points/awards.
5. A player must complete a nine hole round from her designated tees to be eligible for points/awards.
6. Any round of golf played according to the rules of golf must be posted. A member must post her score, rating, and slope of any round of golf played at a course other than Woodside.
7. (Amended April 2023) All players are required to use a cart for Tournament play. Players may choose to walk for regular Thursday/Saturday play provided they keep up with the pace of play.
8. Breaking of ties: In the event of ties in major competitions, the Woodside Country Club Pro Shop personnel will determine winners.
ARTICLE VI: DUES
1. Annual dues will be collected no later than November 1 in order for member information to be included in the membership handbook.
2. After June 1, new members dues will be pro-rated.
3. (Amended April 2023) Dues monies will be refundable ONLY if the member drops before the February start date of the new season.
